Syracuse Action Steps
Thanks again for a great dialogue! Here are some of the action steps identified in the meeting: (1) Equity for immigrants (i.e., equitable distribution of visas) -stop privileging Europeans -make visa totals per country proportional to country populations (2) Community Integration -refugee resettlement staff meeting to discuss how to build advisory councils on integration -identify who else can help with this (3) Refugee Families -several initiatives are already underway, including the Interfaith Works Speaker's Bureau, and the educational program by Oasis (contact Jim Bresnehan about these) -initiate joint advocacy by different refugee groups -participate in World Refugee Day (June 20)...
